Last night's Miyavi concert fuckin' rocked! I'm going to report all of the details of my concert going experience because that's what I do.

Are you ready to rock? )

Then, [livejournal.com profile] yaexrae paid me a visit this afternoon. It was good to see her, since the last time I saw her was at ACen. We ended up driving to Mitsuwa, a Japanese market that's a little ways away from here. (Don't worry [livejournal.com profile] stellawind, I still want to go there with you, too.) I'd never been before, so it was awesome to get to go. Like a little tiny slice of Japan in America. They had Japanese food and books there. I really don't have much cash at all at the moment (after those concerts), so I only bought a milk tea. It was delicious though. I miss so many Japanese foods. I really want to go back when I have more cash, so I can do some grocery shopping there!

I've had an eventful weekend! I have a bunch of pictures of eveything I've been doing, but I'm being lazy about uploading them at the moment. I shall try to upload them soon though.

On Saturday, I went with Greta and [personal profile] meepalicious to Ikebukuro and Harajuku. [personal profile] meepalicious and I bonded this week over our fangirlish tendencies, so we decided that we had to hit Otome Road together. And hit it we did. It took a bit of searching to find, but once we did find it we were thrilled. The two big stores we shopped at were Mandarake (home to all the doujinshi a fujoshi could want) and Animate (eight floors of anime and manga heaven). I spent more than I probably should have, but am quite pleased with the purchases I made. I won't list everything I got, but I did pick up some doujinshi (00, FMA, and FFVII) and a chocobo plushie, among other things. We then managed to find our way into the Ikebukuro Closet Child, despite the fact that the elevator tried to eat Greta. Closet Child is a store that sells used, good condition lolita and visual-kei style clothes, as well as some ball-jointed dolls. [personal profile] meepalicious found a lovely Volks doll there, for an awesome price, that she decided to go back and purchase today~. After that, we decided to visit Harajuku. It was so cool! I ended up buying an adorable, punk-ish looking purple and black striped shirt. It has a hood with floppy bunny ears attached to it! We didn't get to spend a ton of time in Harajuku because it was later in the day by the time we got there, but I definitely want to go back. Perferably on a Sunday, when the crazy awesome outfits are out in full force.

Today was the group trip to Asakusa, with our study abroad program. We got to see the Kaminarimon Gate and Sensoji temple. I bought a yukata set there! Then we took a water taxi to get to lunch. Lunch was a delicious meal of chanko nabe. It was then time to go to the stadium to watch a sumo match. Not really my sort of thing, but it was actually pretty interesting. The whole thing is a highly ritualized event. The preparations take more time than the actual sumo matches. Some of the matches were a little boring, but some of them were pretty exciting. The best part was when wrestlers would get thrown out of the ring and almost end up in the laps of some unsuspecting audience members, lol.

And now, to top off everything, tomorrow is the Miyavi concert! I can't believe I get to see him live~.

So, this past week it really hit me. Before it just seemed like everything was so far away, but...

Two weeks from today, I will be on my way to Japan. For a whole semester.

Omfg guys. I'm starting to feel this mixture of excitement and nervousness. I don't know what to do with myself right now. I feel like I have a thousand little things I need to do before I leaaaave.

So, it seems that the issue with my friends has been somewhat glossed over by many of the people in our friends group. There's still a bit of underlying tension, but things are better then they were at this point last week. Now, I'm just kind of waiting to see what happens next. Blah.

I finally got my copy of DIM, the GazettE's new CD, last week! alfkhjklghf I'm in love with it. Been listening to it constantly. It just reminds me all over again why they're my favorite band.

Saturday, I got to go see HBP again, but this time I got to see it in 3-D IMAX!  I would say about the first 10 minutes of the movie were in 3-D. It was very cool. I was just disappointed that more of the movie wasn't 3-D. It felt like a bit of a rip off. Luckily, the tickets had been free through my dad's work.

Yesterday, DJ and I went downtown, to Market Days up on North Halsted. Being on North Halsted pretty much puts the event in the center of Boystown, so you can imagine that the event was pretty fabulous. It was pretty much a big open-air market set up in the street. There were lots of vendors and food, as well as stages featuring musical entertainment. It was a lot of fun! My favorite part of the day was when DJ was being shamelessly flirted with by an attractive Latino man. XD

Today, I finally got the chance to finish my copy of Shadow Magic, the sequel to Havemercy. I greatly enjoyed it! Caius, in all his insanity, is totally my favorite. The Japanese influences in the story also made me so happy. It referenced a bunch of stuff that I learned in my Japanese history classes this year, including the story of Yoshitsune and Benkei! *insert me geeking out over Japan here*
