I've had an eventful weekend! I have a bunch of pictures of eveything I've been doing, but I'm being lazy about uploading them at the moment. I shall try to upload them soon though.
On Saturday, I went with Greta and
meepalicious to Ikebukuro and Harajuku.
meepalicious and I bonded this week over our fangirlish tendencies, so we decided that we had to hit Otome Road together. And hit it we did. It took a bit of searching to find, but once we did find it we were thrilled. The two big stores we shopped at were Mandarake (home to all the doujinshi a fujoshi could want) and Animate (eight floors of anime and manga heaven). I spent more than I probably should have, but am quite pleased with the purchases I made. I won't list everything I got, but I did pick up some doujinshi (00, FMA, and FFVII) and a chocobo plushie, among other things. We then managed to find our way into the Ikebukuro Closet Child, despite the fact that the elevator tried to eat Greta. Closet Child is a store that sells used, good condition lolita and visual-kei style clothes, as well as some ball-jointed dolls.
meepalicious found a lovely Volks doll there, for an awesome price, that she decided to go back and purchase today~. After that, we decided to visit Harajuku. It was so cool! I ended up buying an adorable, punk-ish looking purple and black striped shirt. It has a hood with floppy bunny ears attached to it! We didn't get to spend a ton of time in Harajuku because it was later in the day by the time we got there, but I definitely want to go back. Perferably on a Sunday, when the crazy awesome outfits are out in full force.
Today was the group trip to Asakusa, with our study abroad program. We got to see the Kaminarimon Gate and Sensoji temple. I bought a yukata set there! Then we took a water taxi to get to lunch. Lunch was a delicious meal of chanko nabe. It was then time to go to the stadium to watch a sumo match. Not really my sort of thing, but it was actually pretty interesting. The whole thing is a highly ritualized event. The preparations take more time than the actual sumo matches. Some of the matches were a little boring, but some of them were pretty exciting. The best part was when wrestlers would get thrown out of the ring and almost end up in the laps of some unsuspecting audience members, lol.
And now, to top off everything, tomorrow is the Miyavi concert! I can't believe I get to see him live~.
