Saturday was an interesting day. After a bit of a fiasco, where the driver of the luggage service and I couldn’t quite communicate, my bags were finally picked up. It was a huge fucking pain in the ass. The rest of the day was better though.
meepalicious and I met up with Lauren in Ikebukuro. We did this so Leslie could move some of her stuff into her tiny new apartment. Then, the three of us went to B:Lily-Rose. I’m super sad that the café appears to be closing at the end of the year. It was such a good time. It was Lauren’s first time there, and I was surprised at how much she liked it. It was fun! We had a random conversation with one of our servers about Hetalia. I also got to talk to two of the other servers about how I didn’t like tomatoes, lol. For whatever reason, the waiters were pretty genki that night. They were super cute. Lauren and Leslie both got cute pictures taken. Afterwards, we went and did some purikura. Leslie and I then had to fricking run back to the station to catch the train, so we could get back to the dorm in time for curfew. We somehow made it back about ten minutes before curfew. We also had some English conversation with a nice drunk old salaryman on the train. Lol.
On Sunday morning, I finished up my last minute cleaning and packing. I spent the rest of the day hanging out with Leslie, until around 2 in the afternoon, when we both went our separate ways. Parting was sad because we've only been around each other constantly this past semester. It's weird to me that I won't see her all the time anymore. I am sure that there will be future opportunities (and cons) for us to meet up though. I took the train to Narita and picked up my luggage. My bags were super heavy, but I managed somehow managed to carry them through the airport. I had to try not to cry as the plane took off and I realized that I really was leaving Japan. The flight was around eleven hours long. I was able to sleep, rather fitfully, through about half of it.
And now I’m home. It’s nice and I’m really happy to see my family again, but I miss being in Japan. I’m definitely going to need to adjust to being in America again. I’m going back to everything I’ve known my whole life, but something feels a bit off about it right now, and it weirds me out. I’ve also found that I need to watch what I’m saying because I’m still slipping Japanese words and phrases into my English conversation. I’m just so used to doing it because that’s how everyone in IES has been talking to each other for the past three and a half months.
I think my sleep schedule is also fucked. I went to bed at 9 PM and woke up at 2 AM. And now it’s 4 in the morning. I’m super hungry, too. I just hope that it won’t take my body too long to adjust to switching time zones again.
