Yesterday, I met up with[livejournal.com profile] immelmanturn downtown. She had obtained free passes to an advanced screening of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. On my way to meet up with her I walked past the Art Institute and, much to my delight, there were a group of cosplayers from the new Alice in Wonderland movie doing a photoshoot there. I wish I'd actually gone and gotten a closer look at them. Then I found [livejournal.com profile] immelmanturn and we got sushi for dinner. We then went to the movie screening. I really enjoyed the movie. It was fun, cute, and quirky. I had also only read the first volume of the comic, so I wasn't picking everything apart and comparing it to the books. I think it made for a more enjoyable viewing experience. Wallace was definitely my favorite part of the movie. I also liked the movie's soundtrack a lot. I should see about downloading it. I was also amused at the single preview they showed before the movie, which looked like it was going to be some creepy horror movie. It was then revealed to be a trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's newest film. A couple people in the audience booed and the entire audience burst into laughter at the trailer. I love being in movie theaters full of geeks.

Yesterday was a fun time. DJ and I went to Market Days, up in Boystown. There was all sorts of food, drink, music, and various other forms of entertainment there. The first thing we ended up doing was wandering over to the Brit Beat concert. They were a pretty great Beatles tribute band. They played songs from the different Beatles eras and even changed costumes to fit the each era. Afterwords, we met up with [livejournal.com profile] immelmanturn, who spent the rest of the afternoon with us. Between wandering around, we caught a bit of a drag show. Sadly, we had just missed the Gaga impersonator. Later we made our way back to that area and a dance party had started. We spent some time talking with a couple boys DJ knew and watching a fierce drag queen dancing on stage (her platform shoes were amazing). After a while, [livejournal.com profile] immelmanturn and I ran off to join the dancing. I think my favorite moment of the day was before we joined in the dancing, when all of us were standing around near the side of one of the buildings. All of the sudden a rain of glitter fell on us. We looked up and found that the people living in the building were shaking glitter out of the window and onto the crowd. Boystown: the only place where it rains glitter. XD

Yesterday, I went downtown with Allison, Alyssa, and Meghan. We went to hang out with Elise at her new apartment. In the afternoon, all of us went to the Taste of Chicago. It was our first time going. It was super crowded, but I had some very yummy food. List of stuff I had includes potstickers, chocolate covered strawberries, a Nutella crepe, mango & blue raspberry Italian ice, shark, and goat with fried plantains. Contrary to what one might believe, the goat was good. XD Was not as fond of the shark. We then stayed for the fireworks over Lake Michigan. They were pretty, but sometimes they were a little hard to see because of the assholes who insisted on standing in front of the crowd, blocking the view of everyone else who was sitting. We tried to get the hell out of the Taste as soon as the fireworks were over, but it was so crowded. We ended up making a train, hanging onto each others purses, so we wouldn't lose track of anyone. It took forever to get out. Part of Michigan Avenue was even blocked off because of the crowds. We were walking in the middle of Michigan Ave. It was so weird. Hours later, we finally made it back to Elise's apartment, where we ate a bunch of the delicious brownies Jessie had made for Elise. We stayed at Elise's overnight and came back home this morning.

I'm loving alice nine's new Rainbows PV. This video somehow manages to simultaneously be sexy, yet something that I cannot watch without laughing my ass off. Oh, alice nine. ♥

This past weekend was so much fun! Saturday was prom, but I didn't go. Instead I spent the day in Chicago with my friends. We took the train downtown. First we grabbed some lunch at Jamba Juice (it was a Jamba emergency). I'd never been there before and I found out that their smoothies are the greatest. Then we sat and ate our lunch in Millennium Park. We ended up walking around there and playing around in the water. We also stopped and took a bunch of pictures at the Bean.  After that we made our way down Michigan Avenue. We stopped at places like Water Tower Place, the Disney Store (with a ton of PotC merchandise), and Borders (where we had fun looking at the erotic books section). Last, but not least, was dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I had oreo cheesecake for dessert. It was so good! Best cheesecake ever!

We decided to go back downtown on Sunday. We spent the day at Navy Pier. This was the day where we fit all seven of us into one cab. Twice. It was very squishy. I had to sit on Jessie's lap. Once we got to Navy Pier, we rode the Ferris Wheel. Then we decided to get a caricature of all of us done! We split the cost for the actual caricature, then made copies of it for everyone. I think it turned out great! We went home after some McDonald's. But the fun didn't end there. We decided to go hang out with Allison and Alyssa's friend Matt. We played Wii at his house. It was my first time meeting Matt. I thought he was pretty cute and funny. We have decided that we are going to set him up with Jessie because they'd be perfect for each other.

And yesterday was senior ditch day. I did absolutely nothing all day. I enjoyed it. I thought about things and realized that I don't regret not going to prom. I had an awesome time hanging out with everyone. I think I had more fun than I would have if I did go to prom. If anyone wants to see pictures from my weekend I posted them on my myspace. I'm too lazy to repost all of them here.

I was in downtown Chicago yesterday. Mom's friend Carolyn took me. We went to the Art Institute, because I had never been there before. So much beautiful art! I thought it was amazing to see the paintings and sculptures up close. My favorite pieces of art were the ones from Monet's Waterlilies series.

We also ate dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. I had spicy ahi tempura rolls that were very yummy. And for desert I had Oreo mudslide cheesecake. It's chocolate cheesecake, with chocolate oreos, a chocolate brownie crust, and almonds on top. So much chocolate! I was in heaven!

This past weekend was one of the best ones I've had in a while.

Satuday I went downtown with Elise, Lisa, & Allison. We had a great time goofing around and shopping. We went all around Water Tower Place. Then we went to the Hershey's Store; there was a fricking ton of chocolate there! It was awesome! We also ended up in Borders for a good hour trying to decide exactly what we wanted to buy. We practically had to drag ourselves out of the bookstore. Then we also ended up going to the American Girl Place, because Lisa had never been there and she wanted to go (I swear, we're not 7 years old anymore). For dinner we went to the Cheesecake Factory. I got chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake. It was soo good! The Cheesecake Factory has the best cheesecake ever! We got to sing 'Happy Birthday' to Lisa there, too.

Sunday, Lisa & I did finally get to go see Brokeback Mountain. I loved it! It has to be one of the best movies I've seen in a while! It made me actually cry, something that few movies do (my eyes may get all watery, but normally I don't actually cry). Lisa & I are talking about going to go see it again.
