Taking a break from studying kanji.

I went to hang out at Allison's dorm last night, and I met some of the girls that live on her floor. They all either bored, or annoyed me. This just reinforced my conclusion that I really cannot relate to "normal" girls. When I say normal girls, I'm referring to the kind of girls that only seem to care about things such as make-up, clothes, and boys. They are so boring and I just don't care about socializing with them. I always feel like I have nothing in common with them, because my scope of interests is way different than theirs. ^_^; I'll take my geeky fandom girls anyday.

I'm rediscovering how much I love the manga Kaze Hikaru. The manga is historical fiction about the Shinsengumi in pre-Meiji Japan. The main character is a girl, who disguises herself as a boy in order to join the Shinsengumi. She's pretty awesome. Once she joins the Shinsengumi, she's then taken under the wing of Okita Soji (who is so adorable in this manga). I really enjoy Kaze Hikaru because I find the Shinsengumi to be very interesting.

I'm all for discussing makeup and clothes and boys if you catch me in the right mood, but I'd still rather be discussing books or politics. =]

I don't mind discussing those topics sometimes, but I hate it when those are the only things that girls will talk about.

I like all of those topics -- the normal and the geeky. But I get when you say you don't fit in with the so-called "normal" girls. I tried to for years...and I finally realized that I was happier when I was myself. And maybe I wasn't friends with the "cool" girls...but I think they're kick ass.

And you are one of those kick ass girls chica. Long live geeks!!!

I'm not really concerned with fitting in with the "normal" girls, because I just don't relate to them. And I am quite happy with the friends that I do have.
