Dec. 17th, 2009 10:45 pmYesterday, Greta,
meepalicious and I spent the whole day going around Tokyo. We managed to hit all the major stops on the Yamanote-sen. We got tokunai passes for unlimited JR train usage in the Tokyo area. First we stopped in Akihabara. I bought a pair of official Star Wars lightsaber chopsticks. They're pretty awesome. Next stop was Ikebukuro. I made my last doujinshi trip at Mandarake. I managed to find one of the other Gosunkugi Lockon/Tieria doujinshi I had been looking for. The Mandarake also provided a source of amusement because one of the shopworkers was cosplaying as Jesus from Saint Young Men. It was then time for one last lunch at B:Lily-Rose. It was fun as usual. I wish I knew more Japanese to be able to interact with the staff better. It's sad because what I can decode of the website informs me that the shop is closing at the end of the year. Woe. We then made a brief stop in Harajuku, so Greta could pick up a present for her brother. I stared at the Gazette track jacket some more, but did not purchase it because of lack of funds at that moment. After that it was on to Omotesando to go to GoFa and see the Saiyuki exhibit. It was a small selection of the prints we had already seen at Saiyuki Festa, but that's okay because they were still super pretty. We were also let in for free because GoFa was where Leslie worked for her field placement! While we were there, we were also able to leave notes for Minekura. Yay! We then went to Shinjuku because Leslie wanted to see about paying her rent in advance. We also went to the Shinjuku Closet Child. They had a lot of Vivenne Westwood stuff there. The next stop was Shibuya. I bought a CD by a Japanese jazz group for Dad at HMV. We also briefly checked out the 109. The last stop we made was the Tokyo Tower in Hamamatsucho. Greta parted ways with Leslie and I because she had already been to the Tokyo Tower. Leslie and I made our way to the main observation deck of the tower. By that time it was dark outside and the whole city was lit up. It was gorgeous and amazing because the lights seemed to go on forever, no matter which side of the Tokyo Tower you looked out of. I loved it. I almost can't describe how looking at it made me feel, knowing that this whole city was so big and beautiful and I would be leaving it all too soon. It almost made me want to cry. It was the perfect way to end the day. Leslie and I then returned to the dorm and had some of the mac & cheese her mom had sent her for dinner. Let me tell you, Kraft Three Cheese Mac & Cheese is the most delicious thing ever when it has been months since you have last had mac & cheese.
Today, I didn't have any class, so Leslie and I got lunch together at the Herb & Scone Cafe. I had some Matcha Chiffon cake with my tea. Then, this afternoon, I met Kirsten in Harajuku. I finally bought the Gazette track jacket. It's pretty comfy and it makes me happy. We also made a stop at the Pokemon Center in Hamamatsucho. I picked up a plush Eevee as a present for Tara there.
Now, I'm working on packing and practicing for my Japanese speaking final tomorrow. I'm nearly done with most of my packing. I had to buy a small suitcase to fit more of my stuff in the other day. I should just be able to fit all my stuff now. I'm in a kind of variable mood right now because I don't want to think about leaving. Tomorrow night is the IES Sayonara party. One last chance to see everyone before I go. Sigh. There's too little time left.
