They'll call it chance, or luck, or call it Fate

My birthday was yesterday. It's hard for me to believe that it's already been a year since I turned 21. My birthday was a nice time. I feel kind of like a bitch for just calling it nice, but that's all it really was. The best part of the day was the dinner that I had with my friends at T.G.I Friday's. I love when my friends all get together. It wasn't as awesome as it could've been though because about half of my friends ended up not being able to go (which I understand because it is the weekend before finals, but is still a little bit of a letdown). After the dinner, Alie, immelmanturn and I tried going out to find dancing, but there wasn't really much going on on Kirkwood because (once again) it's the weekend before finals. So, we went back to immelmanturn's place and watched some Doctor Who, which I then ended up falling asleep during because I was tired. It wasn't a bad birthday, it just wasn't an especially great one. Although I might just be more disappointed because this year didn't live up to the great birthday celebration I had last year in Japan, which is probably a standard that I shouldn't hold birthdays in America to. :/

Now, it's time to get to work. I have one final each day on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. And two of them are gonna be a bitch to get through. I've got a bunch of studying that I need to get done. I get to go home on Thursday though, which I am definitely looking forward to. I am ready to be done with this semester.

Here's some updates on what's been going on in my life recently. The semester is winding down, all I have left is a smallish paper and four finals. I spent a good part of the weekend finishing a ten page paper for Cross-Cultural Communication. I'm so glad to have that out of the way. I can't let myself shut down like I would like to though because I still need to do well on finals next week. I'll be done with the semester next Wednesday afternoon. I'm looking forward to it!

I had an unexpectedly good time this past Saturday. stellawind and yaexrae made a surprise visit! They were in town to see the Nutcracker and surprised me with a bit of an early birthday present. They can't be in town for my birthday this Saturday, so it was nice to get the chance to see them. And yaexrae made me an adorable tiny top hat, with pink flowers and ribbon on it, for my present! (I can't wait until we have our elegant picnic in the spring and I can wear it!) Then the bunch of us went out to dinner at the Irish Lion. I tried some of the escargot Alie ordered, and actually liked it. It tasted a lot better than I thought it would be. After dinner we went out to Uncle E's, Bloomington's local gay bar. Zuryvette was performing the first time as a drag king in a drag competition that the bar was holding. It was a pretty fun time! Zuryvette even won the competition~

Now, I should probably go off the internet and study a bit more because I have an early final tomorrow. It'll be nice to get it out of the way.

Thank god, my finals are over! I had to take all three of them today. I studied so much these past few days I felt like my brain was dripping out of my ears.

Saturday, I went out to dinner with everyone from the GV and immelmanturn. It was a fun time. We went to eat at Turkuaz, which has yummy Turkish food. But, on our way to the restaurant, we were getting into Kristi's car and found that someone had knocked both side mirrors off of it. So before we were able to go we had to file a report with the police. It turned out that there were several other cars in the parking lot that had been vandalized by idiotic assholes. Fortunately, we were able to ducktape the mirrors back on, so we were still able to go out to eat.

Tonight the roomie and I watched Pirates of the Caribbean (the first one), which is one of my most favoritest movies. It had been a while since I last watched it, so seeing it made me happy. Greta and trombonesonmars decided to watch it with us, as well. And while we watched it Greta drew me an awesome fanart of Captain Harlock and Garlock! :D

I get to go home for break Thursday morning. It will be so nice to spend a few weeks at home. I cannot wait.
