Oh, Ohayocon. Overall the con was fun, but everything up to Friday night was a big pile of frustration. It kind of seemed like Murphy's Law had it out for us and our con-going experience. Thursday night, Kristi was in a minor car accident. Luckily, no one was hurt, but the bumper of the biggest car we were taking to the con was pretty banged up. We were afraid that there was internal damage in the car, so early the next morning we took it to the mechanic. Thankfully, there was only cosmetic damage, so we were good to go. We piled into three different cars and drove the four hours to the con. We got there just fine. That was when more problems started. Alie couldn't remember which hotel she had booked our reservation at, so we wasted around two hours before getting our room at the correct hotel. (Note to self, Alie is not allowed to book the hotel next time.) We did end up in a presidential suite once we got to our proper hotel, so that was nice. Then we lost track of Alie and Zury and we couldn't find them. They were in the skit, so we couldn't properly practice for it, and we missed our skit audition time. By this time the bunch of us were quite snappy, stressed, and frustrated. The group was fortunately able to get a later audition time, but by that point I had had it with everything. Since I hadn't originally wanted to be in the skit anyways (I get stagefright), the group was nice enough to modify the skit and remove my part. They were able to successfully complete their audition and win a spot in the masquerade and I was able to finally have fun wandering around in cosplay. The con was fun from that point on.
We had a huge group of people at the con this year. There were twelve of us! This included (for my own future reference) me, Kristi, Koji,

A completely awesome Double K Kamina!

The Hetalia panel~
Got an early start to go to the Kingdom Hearts photoshoot on Saturday. I put on my Axel cosplay for it. It wasn't as good as last year's KH photoshoot, but I did get to meet an adorable Xion cosplayer. She's since found me on Deviantart. I also admired the make-up job on a really good Xemnas cosplayer. She pulled up her sleeve and showed how pale she actually was under the make-up. In the afternoon, I switched into my Ed cosplay for the FMA photoshoot. The Dog Lover's Society was out in full force at the shoot. I was proud of how nice our cosplays looked. Afterwards it was time for our group to part ways, as it was time for everyone in the skit to go get ready for the masquerade.

Xion, myself, and Roxas

Found a Lea cosplayer!

A Heartless, Xemnas, and Sora with killer bunny slippers. This picture cannot be explained.

Demyx, Saix, and a rubber duck?
Kairi's request was for a picture with me kidnapping her.
Me and the awesome Xemnas cosplayer.
Blaser being a sexy Franziska at the Phoenix Wright photoshoot.
A view of the Hetalia photoshoot
Le Chevalier D'eon cosplayers
Dagger and Ciel from Kuroshitsuji
The cutest little Link cosplayer you've ever seen!
Photo-op by our room's fake fireplace.
Eds and Als at the FMA photoshoot. Note Nina by the left side, with her bitchin' automail arm.
Homonculi. yangwarrior is the green-haired Envy down in front. She also made the parasite Envy in the jar. Blaser is dressed as Lust in the back row.
Roys and Rizas. I love how Julie is clearly doing her best "Dogs? I love dogs!" face off to the right, while Payne looks at her going "WTF".
The Lusts have left poor Havoc in favor of Gluttony. Poor Havoc never has any luck with the ladies.
Battle time!
Saturday night was masquerade time! The skits this year where very much hit or miss, but the fact that Stripper Vash and Voltz were hosting again made up for it. One of my favorite skits was the Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice "Gay or European?" skit. Then came the time for the Dog Lover's Society to take the stage!. There was a mic malfunction for about a minute and a half, so they couldn't start until Stripper Vash and Voltz ran onstage with new mics and saved the day. And the rest you can see for yourself: The Dog Lovers' Society presents The Guide to Overdone Cosplay! (Linked not embeded because the formatting is being a bitch.)
They ended up winning first prize for the novice division! I was super proud of them, especially considering how quicly they had to pull everything together. After the skit immelmanturn and I decided to go with the group to the post-masquerade prize/feedback panel. We weren't quite sure where it was, but ended up running into Stripper Vash on his way to the same panel, so we followed him. At the panel we got to see some of the winning cosplays up close and that was pretty cool. They were so detailed and elaborate that I was amazed. Afterwards, we went for a late night celebratory dinner at Max & Erma's in cosplay. A good chunk of our group was still dressed as Eds from the skit. We were there late enough that it turned into Sunday, which was Payne's birthday! So it was also a birthday dinner for her.
Winners!
Goofing off after the masquerade.
William and Grell. The Grell goes to our anime club at IU.
Sharing a milkshake at the resturant. How cute~
Sunday, I wore Ed again because it's one of my more comfortable cosplays. I vounteered to be immelmanturn 's photobitch for her mini Persona 4 photoshoot. She made a pretty badass Kanji. We then rounded up the whole group for lunch and last minute shopping. We ended up bumming around until later in the afternoon, and then it was time to say our goodbyes and hit the road. Though the weekend got off to a rough start, it was a good time overall. We just need to make sure things are planned out a bit better for our next con, which will most likely be ACen.
Roy Mustang is a man in favor of tiny mini skirts.
Nina being a sulky Kyou, from Fruits Basket.
Shinji from Bleach
A shot from the Persona 4 photoshoot.
This L was even in character while eating his lunch.
We found a wheelchair for Blaser to pose in. Sad Havoc in a wheelchair.
I stole Havoc's rifle. Look out!
I bought very little at this con compared to how much I usually buy. I attribute this to having just been in Japan. I did get a really nice Axel fanart, Tsubasa #25, Genbu Kaiden #9, and a Sweden/Finland doujinshi.
Yay!
