When I was out with Eri this weekend she mentioned that she wondered what kind of music was popular back in America right now. (She grew up in America, even though she lives in Japan now.) It reminded me of something that I've been thinking about recently. I've reached a point during my stay in Japan where I feel very out of touch with things back in America. Right now, I don't know much about the current popular music and movies.

(On an interesting, sort of related note, when I was at the Korean restaurant this weekend they were playing a mix of K-pop and popular American songs. Se7en's "Somebody Else" came on and it took me a minute before I realized that it wasn't in English. Pretty much the only English line in the song is when Se7en sings "somebody else" in the chorus. ^_^;)

I also feel a disconnect with what's happening back at home. I'm sure it was bound to happen eventually, but I've been noticing it more and more recently. This is more relating to my high school friends than my college friends. My life is so different from most of my friends back home. I see what's going on with them on Facebook and I feel like it's getting harder for me to relate with them. We're around the same age, but have such different interests and experiences. It'd probably help if I could talk with them more, but I feel like I hardly hear from most of them. Occasionally they'll post that they miss me on my FB wall. Then, I'll mention that we should Skype and catch up, and I don't hear back from them. I realize that I'm not the greatest about keeping in touch, but neither are they. I don't know if there's that much that can be done about it though.

Anyways, I'm waiting for Big Bang's new album "ALIVE" to hit the internet (it's due out at midnight and I'm sure it'll immediately be everywhere) and then I'm going to go to bed. Can't wait to hear my bbs new songs~
