Spain Again!
Jun. 7th, 2005 04:17 pmDay 5
We got up early to start the ride to Costa del Sol. On the way to the coast we were going to stop in Granada. The bus ride was around three or four hours. I was able to get some pretty pictures of the Spanish countryside. Halfway to Granada we stopped at a rest stop for lunch. I got a bag of Cheetos and was extremely disappointed to find out that Spanish Cheetos are severely lacking in cheese. Then Lisa, Jackie, & I went shopping in the gift shop. Lisa & I both ended up getting Spanish language copies of Prisoner of Azkaban. I also bought a pair of castanets, which I attributed to my newfound wish to become a flamenco dancer. Needless to say the flamenco dancer idea lasted all of two days.
We arrived in Granada early in the afternoon. There we visited the famous Alhambra. The architecture inside was amazing. I liked the tiled walls and the carved out ceilings. I took quite a few pictures. We also toured the beautiful gardens. Along the way some people in our group kept asking Abeed, our guide, what the Spanish word for "wedgie" was. He wouldn't tell them, so tey made up their own word "incomogi". All the talk about wedgies caused our tour guide from the Alhambra to ask what a wedgie was. Apparently they don't have wedgies in Europe. The group had to explain wedgies and this caused our guide to crack-up. It was all pretty amusing.
After the Alhambra we were on our way to Costa del Sol. Our hotel room there was soo crammed. We had a one room hotel room this time, with three beds crammed in it. The nice part though was the fact that our room had a balcony. And all the rooms balconies were connected so you could climb over into the next balcony. That was pretty cool because we were then able to visit with people in other rooms, even after our curfew for the night. Before dinner Jackie, Lisa, & I wandered around the hotel. We decided that even though the rooms were crappy, that the hotel was great because of all the cute guys it had. It had a ton more than any of the other hotels, because we were at the coast. It was great.
After dinner we were allowed to go out as long, as we were back by curfew, so Jackie, Lisa, & I met up with Ben's group of friends and wandered around for an hour or two. We made our way to McDonald's for ice cream and cold milk. McDonald's was one of the only places were you could get cold milk, everywhere else served it warm. Yuck. Then we wandered around some more, trying to find our way back to the hotel. We got back to the hotel in time for curfew and went to bed.
