I'm going to start updating about my winter vacation, but I'm going to do it in chunks because I did all of the things.

I'll start with Christmas Eve. Kiri and I started off the day by going to Otome Road and doing some shopping. Leslie met up with us later in the afternoon. We decided to go for a bit of a snack at Cafe 80+1. Our waiters were a bit quieter this time, but it was still nice. We squealed over how cute everyone was and I had a delicious salmon bagel sandwich. It's my goal to attempt to start conversations with our waiters the next time we go. After that we dropped by Patisserie Swallowtail to pick up the Christmas cake that I ordered. A little later we were walking down Sunshine-dori when all of a sudden a small, random Christmas drumline started dancing and playing up and down the street. Kiri and Leslie danced with them for a little bit (I couldn't because I had the cake) and then they marched away. Random, but awesome. We picked up the Christmas KFC that we'd reserved and met up with Anna when she got off of work. Then it was back to Leslie's apartment for a Japan style Christmas Eve celebration. We ate our delicious KFC and some drinks. Kiri made Johnny Appledrunks (aka Drunken Applejacks) for me and her. Then we did a Christmas gift exchange. It was a random present exchange, but we somehow each ended up with a present that was prefect. I got a cute black and white polka dot Peace Now scarf. We then colored the tiny ornaments that Leslie's mom sent. Then it was time for Christmas cake! That had to be one of the most delicious cakes I've eaten. It wasn't too long after that before we decided to go to bed. We spread out all of our blankets on Leslie's floor and went to sleep.

We woke up on Christmas morning and Leslie made us some yummy French toast. Then, I Skyped with my family back home and watched them open the Christmas presents I sent them. For lunch Leslie, Anna, Kiri, and I headed over to Akihabara and had shabu shabu. Leslie, Kiri, and I ate all the beef (four whole plates of it). It was so much deliciousness. We did a bit of shopping in Akiba after. I found a lovely Three Lights/Starlights doujinshi that I snatched up. (So many feelings about Sailor Stars.) We ended the day by having more cake at Leslie's and then Kiri and I went back to my place.

And then this happened.

Christmas morning. Blankets and pillows everywhere.

Shabu Shabu!

Omnomnom.

It was definitely different, but Christmas in Japan was fun. Christmas Eve felt more like Christmas because that was when we did all the festive things. It was a little sad that Christmas itself didn't feel very festive, but overall I felt good about this holiday. It's been years since I've actually enjoyed Christmas, so a Christmas away from the sadness of the holiday back home appears to be what I needed.

It's a legit thing. (http://www.tofugu.com/2010/12/24/kfc-japan-christmas/) When we picked up our chicken, there was a line of people all the way down the side of the restaurant waiting to buy their KFC.

Happy you had a good one-Christmas here in the US also feels very different from me, so I can relate to that. For me, the holidays aren't over until January 8th and my roomies can't figure out why they doesn't get a present until January 6th (I celebrate wise men day then, and that's the date I give out gifts).

I hope I get to see you if I go to Japan for Spring Break (thinking about trying it once more!)

Oh~!

(First off, I miss shabu-shabu with everyone, and the meat there looks おいしい. And the Christmas cake looks lovely. I'd believe it was awesome.)

I'm so glad you've had a really happy Christmas, even if it was more of a festive Christmas Eve. It looks like you had a lot of fun.

♥♥♥

Uh, your present will be coming eventually, but I'm still having discussions with the Amazon Seller over it. It went missing in the mail.
