This past week has also been pretty low-key. Not a lot of assignments and not a lot of plans.

I finished reading Gail Carriger's Blameless on Thursday. Her books are always so lovely! They're fun and amusing and make me want to curl up with a nice cup of tea. I enjoyed BlamelessI will admit though that I was half hoping for some romance between Alexia and Madame Lefoux because I was mad at Conall. He had no right to get so mad at Alexia over the baby! I suppose I'll eventually forgive him though, since he made up with Alexia. And he was able to successfully turn Biffy. I would have been upset if Biffy had died. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him as a werewolf (though I don't know what Lord Akeldama will do with out his favorite drone). I can't wait for Heartless to come out this summer. I tweeted that I had enjoyed the book and was looking forward to the next book, and Gail Carriger actually replied to me tweet and thanked me for the compliment! The fact that she had acknowledged my tweet pretty much made my day and I tweeted about that as well. She then replied to my tweet again and said she was glad to be of service. It put a smile on my face.

On Friday night I got together with [livejournal.com profile] immelmanturn. We hadn't had much time to hang out recently, so we had a lot to catch up on. She rented the projector from Collins and we watched Adam Lambert's concert DVD, projected on the wall of her apartment. And had all of the fangirling for about 12 hours straight (a lot of it about Adam, and Sara also shared some bandom stuff with me). We didn't get to bed at about 6 AM. I thought it was pretty impressive. We also baked cookies and failed at baking cinnamon buns the next day.

Had a nice long phone conversation with [livejournal.com profile] stellawind tonight, as it had been a bit since we'd last talked. It sounds like she's going to be visiting next weekend, so I'm happy! It gives me something to look forward to, amidst all the schoolwork that's going to start cropping up soon.

27 solid hours of sweet hangs. I think this makes up the deficit for the past few weeks. /fans self.

Oooh I LOVE the Parasol Protectorate series!! <3 It's painful to wait for the new book, isn't it? Ah~ not that much more to come though. I have to admit I was quite put off by Conall reacting that way, it seemed a little out of character or maybe a bit overdramatic to me at the time, like a cliffhanger introduced two pages before the end to keep people wanting the next book. It does make sense for the story of course and book 3 made up for it all. I particularly liked the story with Biffy and Akeldama, so touching! I really can't wait to see how that develops, too, and I love how Alexia gangs up with other women. That's quite rare in romantic fantasy these days, where it's all about getting to one's love interest while bashing as many other girls as possible for all being "sluts". Where's the old tie between us girls?! Well done, Alexia!

I've fallen in love with it, too! I know what you mean about Conall. I do agree that it worked out well for book 3 though. I think one of my favorite scenes in the book was definitely the scene with Biffy and Lord Akeldama. I also enjoy Alexia's friendships with the female characters. Like you said, it's nice to have girls teaming up together. And I really love how though Alexia is a Victorian woman, she's not some shy maiden. I like the fact that she can stand up for herself!

She's much more advanced than a lot of women today, not to mention certain female writers who have nothing to do but take feminism 2000 years back. *sigh* I wouldn't call myself a feminist, but I do like it when a damsel in distress calls upon her parasol instead of waiting for the shining knight to rescue her.
