I've been feeling much better since Monday, but haven't have time to update because I've been busy with schoolwork. Now that I'm not sick and I have some free time, I'm going to post my Ohayocon con report!

On Friday we got an early start and left the house at 8 AM. We piled into the car and [livejournal.com profile] immelmanturn drove us the four hours to Columbus. After arriving in town, we dropped Zury and Nicole off at their hotel to make room in the car, and then Sara drove Greta and I to the airport so we could pick up [livejournal.com profile] meepalicious. It was great to see Leslie! I hadn't see her since I left Japan over a year ago. Even though we hadn't seen each other in so long things just clicked right back into place. With our newly aquired Leslie, we made our way back to the hotel to check in. This is where the Hyatt royally fucked up. First, they told us our reservations were cancelled. Of course, we had done nothing of the sort. Then they told us that they had moved our hotel reservations to the other Hyatt, eight blocks away. They had to do this with over 100 rooms because they somehow massively overbooked the hotel. They at least provided a shuttle back and forth from the hotel to the con, but the situation was still pretty annoying. So, we go check in at the other hotel, unpack some things, and change into cosplay. I put on Izaya, Leslie dressed up as Shinra, and Sara dressed up as Scott Pilgrim. Then we made our way back to the con to get our badges and meet up with [livejournal.com profile] stellawind. We weren't at the con for very long before we ran into Julie. She informed us that she had been able to check into our room at the con hotel. Our original room at the con hotel. We explained the situation to her and she gave us the keys to the hotel room so that we could transfer our stuff back to the room that we were originally supposed to have. It was a huge pain in the ass because we had to go back to the other Hyatt, cancel our reservation there, and pack up all of our stuff. Then we had to drag our suitcases on the crowded shuttle and bring all our stuff to the con hotel. I was glad that we had a room at the con hotel, but the whole situation was just an unbelievable pain in the ass, as well as a waste of our Friday afternoon.

We were finally able to start enjoying the con Friday night. Leslie and I met up with Cat at the Durarara!! photoshoot. The shoot was a little underwhelming though because only a small amount of people showed up. We only took a handful of pictures. Leslie, Sara, and I ended up going to Anime Whose Line. It was very hit or miss though. They had a handful of really funny lines and a handful of really offensive lines. I was quite displeased when one of the actors made a joke about beating women and another made a really unfunny dead baby joke. They really needed to get some better material and funnier actors. There wasn't much else interesting going on, so the rest of the night was just spent wondering around. I ran into Mike (who I originally met at ACross) a couple of times and we chatted a little bit. I then turned in (relatively) early.

At the Durarara shoot. Leslie is Shinra, Cat is Shiri (because she couldn't get Celty done in time), and I'm Izaya.

Payne was such an awesome Sweeney Todd! I love that her eyes are even glowing red in this picture.

Saiyuki cosplayers! This made me happy because it reminds me of Kotobukigumi's future plans to do our own Saiyuki cosplay.

An adorable Susukihotaru and Riken from Otome Youkai Zakuro. Seeing them made me happy, too.

We got an early start on Saturday morning. I put on my Axel cosplay. Then, I tagged along with our group as they went to the Kuroshitsuji photoshoot. Our cosplay group does some fantastic Kuroshitsuji cosplay (I'm allowed to say this without being egotistical because I haven't joined our group in cosplaying Kuro yet). A little later was the Hetalia photoshoot, which I also tagged along to. Leslie was cosplaying Italy and Greta was cosplaying Germany. We didn't stay at the shoot too long though because it was ginormous and way too full of teenage fangirls. Instead, Nicole and I took some cute Germany/Italy photos of Greta and Leslie. We then spent some time shopping at the dealers' room and artists' alley. I bought the newest volumes of the Kuroshitsuji and Hetalia manga, as well as Pandora Hearts vol. 2. I also picked up and adorable 4-koma Persona 3 doujinshi and another Shizaya doujin. V then bought us some girly drinks at the hotel bar. After that, we went up to our room to change outfits before we went to the masquerade. I changed into my rave gear (for later that night) because I wanted to get out of the pleather that I had been wearing all day.

Ciel in a suitcase at the Kuroshitsuji shoot. Lol.

I loved these circus cosplayers! There's not enough love for the circus Kuroshitsuji characters.

Germans unite! Greta as Germany and [livejournal.com profile] yaexrae as Franziska.

A shot of how ridiculously huge the Hetalia photoshoot was.

So we took our own Hetalia pics. Greta and Leslie are so cute!

Ur doin' it wrong, Italy.

D'aww~

I ran into a Kingdom Hearts group in the artists' alley.

This Mononoke cosplayer was great!

"Celty wanted me to do it!"

The masquerade was pretty disappointing this year. The costumes were lovely as usual, but the skits just failed. The winning Kuroshitsuji skit was funny and the Silent Hill nurses dancing to "Bad Romance" was pretty awesome, until I realized that the same thing had been done at last ACen. Everything else was mildly funny at best. At least Voltz and Stripper Vash hosted again, which made everything more amusing (although Vash did make a stupid joke about women's rights that displeased me).

After the masquerade it was time to round up the whole group for a cosplay dinner (except for V, who I had trouble getting a hold of *sadface*). We went across the street to eat at Max & Erma's. I was freezing because I was in my rave gear, so I borrowed Leslie's Shinra jacket and Sara's Fourth Doctor scarf. I looked pretty ridiculous, lol. After food, we returned to the hotel so that everyone else who was going to the rave could get ready. They moved the rave to a bigger room this year, which worked out much better because they didn't have people waiting in line to get in and there was no one passing out from heat inside. The rave was fun, but would have been better if the music selection had been better for dancing to.

Our group waiting to be seated at the restaurant. All thirteen of us. XD

Julie and Nina getting ready for the rave.

Nina, Sara, Julie, and me. Ready for the rave!

Sunday is always the most relaxed day of the con. I threw on my Ed cosplay and our group decided to make some last minute purchases in the dealers' room/artists' alley. Leslie and I picked up our commissions from this lovely artist. I commissioned her to do a sketch of Brynn, my BJD/OC. It turned out darling. Leslie's commission was gorgeous as well.

My little Brynn~

Afterwords, we caught the end of the AMV finalists. Then, we had some lunch and took some Kotobukigumi pictures. Then, it was sadly time for the weekend to end. The DLS got together and did our traditional end of con hokey pokey before we parted ways. We packed all our stuff into the car and drove Leslie to the airport so that she could catch her flight back to Boston. I was super sad to see her go, but we're trying to make plans for a Kotobukigumi get-together this summer in Cape Cod. I hope everything will work out because I don't want to have to go a whole other year without seeing Leslie! Then, we drove ourselves back to Bloomington. Parts of the con were a little so-so, but the weekend was worth it because I got to see everyone. I can't wait until to see everyone again!

Kotobukigumi group pic (Nicole, me, Leslie, and Greta). Love~!

Kotobukigumi Y-M-C-A! A fitting end to the con~
