So, I found a subtitled version of the Gundam 00 movie online the other day. I was pretty excited and settled in to watch it last night. Here's my thoughts (that I was too tired to type up when I finished watching the movie). They're in bullet points and some sort of relative order.
- I enjoyed the very brief glimpse we got of Lyle wearing glasses.
- For some reason Marie wearing a poncho made me lol.
- I loved Allelujah's long hair and was kind of disappointed when they cut it back to his usual style.
- Those Ribbons look-alikes were creepy. Also, the metal taking over people's bodies? Kind of creepy.
- It's nice to know that Hallelujah is still around.
- At first I forgot that Nena had died and thought that Meena was Nena.
- What was the point of introducing Descartes? To show the potential of new Innovators? He certainly didn't last very long.
- Kati/Patrick is still adorable. It's nice to know that Patrick is still aboard the failboat and still has the lifespan of a cockroach.
- I was happy to see that Tieria had a body once again! It's nice to know that he's capable of using his body or residing in Veda.
- I love the idea of Setsuna/Feldt. Feldt's probably my favorite Gundam girl and I think it's sweet that she has feelings for Setsuna. I ship it~
- I do not love the idea of Tieria/Mileina. I don't dislike Mileina, but in my world Lockon/Tieria is canon. Not quite sure of the validity of Tieria/Mileina. Mileina was the one who confessed her love for Tieria. I don't think there's any indication whether Tieria feels the same way, as he never comments on it either way. So, I'm gonna choose to believe that he doesn't feel the same.
- I was sad that Graham died. I've always liked him. At least he died a noble, sacrificial death for the good of humanity though? Still not happy.
- It's interesting to note that Ribbons appears to be based off of a real person that Aeolia Schenberg knew.
- WTF was up with the ending of the movie? The giant flower in space. Then, it looked like Setsuna combined with the ELS. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm happy that they came back to the Jupiter plot point that was introduced earlier in the series. I just didn't expect it to turn out like that. Is Setsuna assimilated with the ELS, while everyone else grows old and dies? Not the most awesome ending they could have come up with.
In conclusion, was the movie everything I hoped it would be? No. Was it worth watching? Probably.
