The fire alarm went off in our dorm a few hours ago, while I was in the middle of taking my shower. Fortunately I had my pjs with me to change into. Otherwise I would have had to stand around outside in my towel.

This past weekend was fun! Friday afternoon stellawind, immelmanturn, and I went shopping at Walmart. While we were waiting at the bus stop, I showed Sara and Ria how to make origami samurai hats out of newspaper. Then we went to the Japanese Conversation Club's coffee hour. They had nummy food. We made more origami hats and boxes. After that we headed over to the Chinese Moon Festival that was being held on campus. It was neat. They had more really good food there, like moon cakes and peach buns. There was also entertainment. There was a pretty good Chinese band and some Chinese dancers.

Saturday night, Ria, Nicole and I went to the Lotus Festival. It's a local music festival that includes musical artists from all over the world. First we saw the Dhoad Gypsies, a really cool band from India. They played traditional Indian music. They even had a dancer/fire breather. Later we went and saw the March Fourth Marching Band, the coolest marching band ever. They wore funky costumes and played what they call surrealist big-band music. The music was really fun and they had performers, like stilt walkers and fan dancers, performing while they played. They had a large section of the audience dancing (although that could have been because a good part of the front of the audience seemed to be drunk) by the end of the night.

Then, on Sunday night, I went to a local showing of the movie Serenity and the Firefly/Serenity fan documentary, Done the Impossible. It was so good! ♥ And I won a copy of the collector's edition of Serenity! The great part about it was that the man in charge had me pick one of the raffle tickets, and it ended up that I had randomly picked my own ticket. It made me happy. And now, at the moment, I am really into Firefly.
