It has officially become the part of the semester that I hate. School work is piling up like mad. I have one thing due after another; papers, presentations, and group projects, as well as tests and quizzes. I have so much stuff to remember right now that my head feels like it's going to explode if I have to put one more thing in my schedule. I'm stressing and because I'm stressing my skin is breaking out more than usual. It all sucks.

It's also reached that point, usually about halfway through the semester, where I start feeling a bit homesick. I miss my family, my best friend, and my dog. I would love to be able to spend a weekend relaxing at home, right about now. Sadly, it looks like I probably won't get to make any trips home until Thanksgiving break, which is still a month away.

I had a small break tonight when my roomies and I went to see the Legally Blonde musical at the IU Auditorium. The movie is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine, so I wanted to see the musical version. It was a really fun show. I liked a lot of the little changes and add-ins they put in the musical. Seeing it cheered me up for a little while, but I now unfortunately need to get back to my piles of homework.

Can it please just be Halloween weekend already? Then this deluge of crap will be done and I'll be able to relax.

So, Thursday night was Beauty and the Beast. It was lovely! I had seen a well-done local production of it before, but the professional production took it to another level (as it should have). I thought Belle, the Beast, and Gaston's actors were all very good. I think the coolest part was the Beast's transformation sequence, near the end. They had his actor hoisted up on wires and spun him all around, while these cool lights flashed. Then, by the end of the sequence, the Beast's mask had been pulled off and he turned into the Prince. And of course, he and Belle lived happily ever after~.

This afternoon we all went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. I really enjoyed it. It was a nice re-imagining of the original story and the visuals were stunning. This is quite stereotypical for me, but my favorite part was Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. He maintained a nice level of insanity. I also really enjoyed all the inclusions of the Jabberwocky, since I've enjoyed the poem even since my 6th grade English teacher made us memorize it. I do think the movie could have been even better though, possibly if it was not a joint venture between Disney and Tim Burton. I feel that Tim Burton needed to hold back a bit on his usual weirdness because of the Disney label on the movie. Oh, well. It was still quite good though.

We also went to anime club tonight, as we normally do. Tonight, we started watching Sengoku Basara. Oh my god. The Sengoku Jidai just got fuck awesome. This show is completely historically unrealistic (aside from the fact that it contains fictional versions of real Japanese historical figures) and I don't even care. It's gar levels are through the roof and they fight with manly spirit. Therefore the battles have large amounts of gay. There is also random gratuitous, but not completely unintelligible Engrish. And Oda Nobunaga. The motto of this series should be "Sengoku Basara: Uniting Japan through GAR and GAY".

Last night was the second week in a row that I had dinner with Emily and Brad. They're both in my Kurosawa class and every week before our Wednesday night movie showings they go out for Japanese food. They've recently started inviting me along with them. Brad's girlfriend Kaylee normally comes along, as well. Then, if we have time, we get coffee at The Pourhouse and grab snacks at Bloomingfoods. I enjoy hanging out with them, so I plan to continue joining them on these pre-movie dinners for the rest of the semester.

Currently killing time at the IMU. I had meant to use this time more productively, but I ended up eating dinner at Chipotle with Emily and her friend Shannon. Then, I spent the better part of an hour on the phone with Mom. And, now I don't have enough time to start properly working on my International Studies assignment on Sweden (Su-san!). I'm killing time because I'm going to go see the musical version of Beauty and the Beast at the IU Auditorium tonight! Alyssa and Emilia are coming along with me. I'm so excited because it's always been one of my favorite Disney movies! And, now it's time for me to go meet up with Alyssa and Emilia, so I will report on the musical later~.

Break has been going pretty good. Mom and I went downtown to see Wicked yesterday! It was so awesome! Definitely the best production I've seen. I'm really glad I got the chance to see it before it leaves Chicago at the end of the month.

Most of the rest of my time has been spent lazing around the house, or hanging out with friends. A bunch of my friends got together at Leyla's house last week. We did karaoke and played games, like Spoons and Taboo. It was a lot of fun. It was really good to see Leyla because I haven't seen her in forever.

I've also been spending a lot of time with DJ over break. We've been going shopping, watching movies, eating at Denny's in the middle of the night, and going out for coffee or smoothies during the day. I'm going to miss that boy when I go back to school.

And I've very recently fallen in love with the band Tokio Hotel. They're a popular German band, who put out an English CD this past year. I've been listening to their music a lot. I really like their sound. And their lead singer Bill is completely gorgeous! Listening to them makes me realize that it's been a while since I've really gotten into any bands outside of J-rock.

I got to see Sweeney Todd (the actual musical) on Wednesday night! It was really good! It wasn't exactly what I was expecting though. All of the actors were onstage at all times, and they not only acted, but also played the music. It took a bit time to get used to seeing the actors playing all the instruments, but it ended up being pretty cool.

I watched to VP debate last night. I still cannot take Sarah Palin seriously. [info]stellawind and I ended up playing Palin Bingo the whole time. I won.

Ohayocon plans are going well. We've reserved the hotel room, and almost everyone is registered for the con. *looks pointedly at [info]immelmanturn* I've also sent in my Axel commission. I'm thinking of getting these boots to go with the costume.

Tomorrow night I'm going to the Lotus Festival. It's a big world music festival that they hold every year in Bloomington. It was a lot of fun when I went last year, so I'm looking forward to it.

I'm going to write about my trip to St. Louis last weekend. It was a lot of fun! I went with Greta, Nicole, Jamie, and Jamie's friend Kyle. The car ride wasn't bad, especially when we were all singing along with Spice Girls songs. We also had fun when we stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel and our waiter hit on Kyle (because when you look at Kyle, it's pretty easy to tell that he's gay). When we got to St. Louis we dropped our stuff at Jamie's house, where we were staying, and did some shopping. Then, that night we went and saw Avenue Q. I really liked it! It was hilarious! I don't know if I'll ever look at Sesame Street the same way again. My favorite part of the musical were the Bad Idea Bears. They were so cute. XD

The first half of this week sucked, but I'm doing better now. I was depressed about losing Molly and I then I was stressing about things. I had Japanese midterms and a paper due. To cheer myself up I decided to watch more Gurren Lagann. I had originally intended to watch it with the anime club on campus, but I ended up binge watching most of the series. It is so fantastic! I only have two more episodes left to watch!
