Just got home from te first show of Miyavi's Ahead of the Light tour! I'll write a short entry about it now because I have a GazettE live tomorrow.

Pass the supersonic, everything's gone behind me )

It felt like the live ended to soon, even though it went on for almost two hours. I wished that there would've been enough time for Miyavi to come back for a second encore. Despite that, it was still a great evening! Myv lives are always fantastic.

Now to get some rest before tomorrow's GazettE live! I'm almost at the end of my two week concert extravaganza.

On Wednesday night, [livejournal.com profile] stellawind and I went to Miyavi's show at Shibuya O-East!

Here we go, blow the night away~ )

I definitely had a lot of excess energy after the live. Miyavi is so good at getting the crowd pumped up. He's just the most precious and I adore him. Definitely want to get tickets for his next tour!

So I had a bit of an early birthday celebration yesterday, starting with Miyavi's mini live at Tower Records and ending with dinner with my friends at Sweets Paradise!

Samurai Sessions )

So that was definitely the best (slightly early) birthday present ever. I'm lucky that I got the chance to go! And now I can't wait to see Miyavi again at his show in Shibuya later this month!

I've been slacking on my updates recently. I realized that I never posted about going to Tokyo Disneyland. Kiri, Leslie, and I had Starlight Passes, which were good from 3 PM until the park closed. First we bought ridiculous, matching Stitch hats because they were cute and we were cold. We didn't go on a lot of rides because the lines were really long, but we did ride Pirates of the Caribbean and the teacups. And both times in line, Kiri managed to make friends with adorable Japanese children through the magic of janken (aka rock paper scissors). After the rides, we found a good spot to watch the Electrical Parade. It was the holiday version of the parade and it was really pretty. After that we watched the fireworks at the castle. The display wasn't as impressive as Disney World, but at the end of it they turned on a snow machine so that snow was lightly falling in front of the castle. That definitely made it a bit more magical. It was a fun time! I'm looking forward to checking out Tokyo Disney Sea in the future.

Disneyland~ )

The same weekend, I also got an iPhone! I'd been thinking for a while about how convenient it would be to have one and my parents offered to pay for the cost of the phone itself as a Christmas present. So I headed over to the Softbank store to update my phone. My phone bill will be more expensive, but I definitely think it'll be worth it. I can easily do a lot of really handy things with my new phone, like look up directions and translate Japanese. I think my favorite app has to be LINE though! With it, I can send free messages to anyone else who has the app on their phone. I got V and DJ to download the app too, so now I can text them again! (I'm glad because it's let me keep up with poor DJ while he's been in the hospital this week. Thankfully, he's doing fine now.)

Now, I'm looking forward to this weekend. I'm planning to meet with my friends to do a little bit of early birthday celebrating. I'll also have an awesome unexpected birthday present in the form of a Miyavi event at Tower Records Shibuya! When I bought MYV's new CD, I entered a drawing to win a ticket for the event. I'd kind of forgotten about it, assuming that I didn't get a ticket, but when I came home from work yesterday I found it in the mail! I'm super excited to see MYV up close!
rinlin: (Tea Time)
Finally got my copy of Miyavi's newest CD, What's My Name?, in the mail today! (I ordered it a couple weeks back, but it took a while to ship from Asia.) I'm in love with it! The bouncy rock style makes me want to dance around and, of course, rock out. No one plays the guitar like Myv. Listening to the CD reminds me of seeing him in concert over the summer, because that was the first time I heard him play a number of these new songs. I think "Futuristic Love", "A-ha", and "Gravity" are my favorites of the new songs on the album. Every time I've heard "Gravity" so far, it's made me get all emotional. Myv just sounds so anguished when he's singing it. It gives me goosebumps.

I also watched the 3rd episode of Kuragehime today. Omg, this series is so cute! I really look forward to the new episode each week. Tsukimi is adorable and Kuranosuke is fabulous. I am trying to talk myself out of wanting to cosplay his (yes, hisoutfit from the first episode. So far, it's not working. I'll give it a few more episodes, but I think he's going to end up on my cosplay list.

Last night's Miyavi concert fuckin' rocked! I'm going to report all of the details of my concert going experience because that's what I do.

Are you ready to rock? )

Then, [livejournal.com profile] yaexrae paid me a visit this afternoon. It was good to see her, since the last time I saw her was at ACen. We ended up driving to Mitsuwa, a Japanese market that's a little ways away from here. (Don't worry [livejournal.com profile] stellawind, I still want to go there with you, too.) I'd never been before, so it was awesome to get to go. Like a little tiny slice of Japan in America. They had Japanese food and books there. I really don't have much cash at all at the moment (after those concerts), so I only bought a milk tea. It was delicious though. I miss so many Japanese foods. I really want to go back when I have more cash, so I can do some grocery shopping there!

I finally got my hands on a copy of Dragon Soul this past weekend! I finished reading it the other day, so here are my thoughts.

Spoilers for Dragon Soul inside. )

I'm excited because tomorrow I'm going to Miyavi's Chicago concert! I get to get up at the crack of dawn to wait in line all day, but it should be worth it. I can't wait to see him again~

I bought my ticket for Miyavi's Chicago concert yesterday! I'm super excited that I'll get to see him again, this time at a smaller venue! And Meghan found out that she will be home this summer, so she's coming with me. It should be awesome, just like the time we went to the Ayabie concert.

This past week seemed pretty long, so I was super glad it was the weekend. Yesterday was fun. I went over to Emily's house for part of the afternoon. She had a number of people over for tea and mahjong. Most of us had never played real mahjong before, so Emily taught us. I really enjoyed it. I even managed to win a round. Then Jamie was in town, so we skipped anime club to have dinner with her.

And now for meme time!

I've had an eventful weekend! I have a bunch of pictures of eveything I've been doing, but I'm being lazy about uploading them at the moment. I shall try to upload them soon though.

On Saturday, I went with Greta and [personal profile] meepalicious to Ikebukuro and Harajuku. [personal profile] meepalicious and I bonded this week over our fangirlish tendencies, so we decided that we had to hit Otome Road together. And hit it we did. It took a bit of searching to find, but once we did find it we were thrilled. The two big stores we shopped at were Mandarake (home to all the doujinshi a fujoshi could want) and Animate (eight floors of anime and manga heaven). I spent more than I probably should have, but am quite pleased with the purchases I made. I won't list everything I got, but I did pick up some doujinshi (00, FMA, and FFVII) and a chocobo plushie, among other things. We then managed to find our way into the Ikebukuro Closet Child, despite the fact that the elevator tried to eat Greta. Closet Child is a store that sells used, good condition lolita and visual-kei style clothes, as well as some ball-jointed dolls. [personal profile] meepalicious found a lovely Volks doll there, for an awesome price, that she decided to go back and purchase today~. After that, we decided to visit Harajuku. It was so cool! I ended up buying an adorable, punk-ish looking purple and black striped shirt. It has a hood with floppy bunny ears attached to it! We didn't get to spend a ton of time in Harajuku because it was later in the day by the time we got there, but I definitely want to go back. Perferably on a Sunday, when the crazy awesome outfits are out in full force.

Today was the group trip to Asakusa, with our study abroad program. We got to see the Kaminarimon Gate and Sensoji temple. I bought a yukata set there! Then we took a water taxi to get to lunch. Lunch was a delicious meal of chanko nabe. It was then time to go to the stadium to watch a sumo match. Not really my sort of thing, but it was actually pretty interesting. The whole thing is a highly ritualized event. The preparations take more time than the actual sumo matches. Some of the matches were a little boring, but some of them were pretty exciting. The best part was when wrestlers would get thrown out of the ring and almost end up in the laps of some unsuspecting audience members, lol.

And now, to top off everything, tomorrow is the Miyavi concert! I can't believe I get to see him live~.

A list, in an attempt to be more cheerful:

Things That Have Recently Made Erin Happy

1.
I'm going to Japan in the fall! *flail*

2. My discovery of the band Cinema Bizarre. They are yet another German band that has English songs. I'm in love with them. That's two of the band members in my new icon up there. *points* First of all, their music is like an awesome mix of rock, pop, and electro. They're also gorgeous, with their visual kei inspired look. *_* Check them out!  I was also really amused to find out that some of the band members first met each other at an anime convention. And their lead singer's name is Strify, which is a reference to Cloud Strife. XD Stylish, geeky, pretty boys. Oh, yes. This makes Erin happy.

3. The new FMA anime. I really enjoyed watching the first episode. I think it'll be very interesting to see where this series goes. I can't get used to Roy's new voice yet though. I love Shinichiro Miki, but all I can think of everytime I hear Roy's new voice is Lockon. Roy's new voice just doesn't have that same smirky tone to it that I loved in the original series. I guess I just need to try and let go of the old anime and get used to the new one, so I can get the full amount of enjoyment out of watching it. Overall, I'm just happy that there's more FMA anime.

4. This message from Miyavi. He's such a sweetie. I wish him the best for his new family and his new company~.

5. I get to see [livejournal.com profile] melody1228  this weekend!
