On Sunday, my two week concert extravaganza came to an end with GazettE's tour final (and 11th anniversary) at Saitama Super Arena! It was the perfect way to end everything, saving the best for last.

That concert was the best possible way to end this round of lives. I really couldn't have asked for a better show. I tweeted this the night of the concert and I'll say it again here. I'm pretty sure that going to GazettE concerts is the closest I get to a religious experience. Happy 11th Anniversary to my favorite boys! I'm so glad I could be there this time. <3

I saw GazettE on Tuesday night! They were fantastic as usual!

Dance, dance, until you die~ )

Sadly, the live ended and it was time to go home. I probably overdid it more than I should have for having a cold, but I don't even care. It was worth it. I'm glad that I finally got to hear the new songs live. DIVISON's really grown on me a lot since I first listened to it. I put it my GFC request for the tour final in March, so hopefully I'll get to see the show again!

So GazettE's new CD, DIVISION, came out on Wednesday! I met up with Greta after work and went over to buy the 3 disk (2 CDs & 1 DVD) limited edition at Tower Records. The packaging and photos in the album book are gorgeous. Of course, I listened to the album as soon as I got home! (And I'm listening to it as I type this~)

There's a pretty noticable difference between both disks of the album. The first disk is called Fragment [Vein]. The songs on this disk remind me of somewhat of "Shiver" and "Pledge" (from their previous album TOXIC), which are quite good songs, but have never been among my personal favorite GazettE songs. I felt the same way about some of the songs on this disk. I love "歪" though and "ヘドロ" has really grown on me. "余韻" has a gorgeous dark sound, too.

Disk 2 is called Fragment [Artery]. It definitely has more heavy, driving songs on it (which are what I generally tend to favor). It also has some electro sounds mixed in. This disk has my personal favorite song from this album, "Gabriel on the Gallows" on it. I love the chorus and it's got a great heavy sound! My other favorite song on this disk is probably "Dripping Insanity". It's got this dark sound that I find really appealing. I wasn't quite expecting it, but once I got used to the electro sounds, I really started to like "Derangement" too.

Both disks are bookended by instumental intro and outro tracks. I think that they're a nice touch and really add to the feel of the album. I really like the end tracks for both disks. "Diplosomia" starts off very quiet and haunting sounding, then BAM- electro sounds! As for "Melt", I really love the beat.

Overall, DIVISION is a good, solid album. For whatever reason, I didn't fall head over heels in love with it right away like I did with DIM, or TOXIC though. It's taken a few more listens, but I'm finally starting to fall in love with it. I'm excited to see the band perform the new songs during the tour this fall. I'm sure that (if I haven't already) I'll fall even more in love with this album when I see GazettE perform it live!

Oh my god, the GazettE live was insane. It was amazing! Two days later and I still ache all over, but it was completely worth it.

Cut for concert report and Sixth Gun feels~ )

Things have been pretty low key recently, at work and otherwise, so there hasn't been a ton to write about. I've been out for food a few different times with Kaille and my friends after work or on the weekends. I always try to hang out with my friends on the weekends, but more and more often we try to meet for dinner at least once during the work week. It makes the week go by a little faster.

The rainy season arrived last week. Even since then, it's been (surprise) pretty rainy. It seems like it rains at some point during almost every day of the week. The rain has made some of the days a little cooler, but it's also made everything much more humid. Blah. Mow, we've gotten even more rain than usual today because a typhoon is passing by. It's pretty rainy and windy outside right now.

I had a dream last night that I was playing Monopoly with Aoi and Kai (from the GazettE) last night. I think it was part of a larger dream where I was hanging out with Aoi and Kai, but the Monopoly is really the only part I remember. Just a silly little dream that made me smile when I woke up. It also made me wonder what playing Monopoly with them would actually be like. I bet that Aoi would manage to be ridiculous and super serious about playing Monopoly at the same time. XD

I'm looking forward to Saturday which is the next exist+trace live.  I'm excited to hear them play more songs from their new album! I've been itching to go to another concert recently, so this is just what I need. :D

I went to Ikebukuro after work yesterday to meet Kaille for dinner and to buy GazettE's OMEGA DVD. OMEGA was released yesterday, so of course I had to go buy it! It was pricey, but I went for the three disk limited edition.

I finally got the chance to watch it tonight. I'd been looking forward to re-experiencing this live! The DVD was so worth the money I paid for it. OMEGA was a great concert, made all the more special by the fact that I was actually there (and had a great seat). It was kind of surreal to watch the DVD and remember being at the concert. So many awesome memories~

I was slightly disappointed to find out that they only included the first encore on the DVD though. "Kantou" was the second encore and I wanted to see it again! There was so much fantastic headbanging and Ruki climbing over barriers into the audience. It would've been great on the DVD.

I'm in such a GazettE mood now. Why is the next concert two months away? ;_; I can't wait to go to their fan club tour in July!
rinlin: (I Love Humans!)
I had been half expecting that my cold would get even worse after all of the physical exertion at the GazettE concert, but luckily that didn't happen. I've been feeling pretty decent since Tuesday, even if my nose is still a little stuffy.

On Monday I had to go up to Gyoda (which is fuckall from where I live in Saitama) for my JET reappointment interview. The interview itself took less than half an hour and seemed to go well. Now I just have to submit my paperwork with my intention to re-contract for the next year. Then I wait for the BOE (Board of Education) to get back to me and see if they're interested in keeping me on for another year. *fingers crossed*

The rest of my week (at least the parts where I haven't been working) has just been devoted to me privately fangirling over GazettE. Seeing them on Saturday reminded me of just how much I love them. So basically, I've been having all of the GazettE related feelings. They're the only thing that I've been listening to this week. I'm going to try my best to go to their 10th Anniversary live in March. :D

Next up is the last concert for this month. On Sunday, I'm going to round off last week's J-rock concerts with a bit of K-pop at the YG Family concert!

Last night was GazettE's OMEGA concert at Yokohama Arena. I got to see my bbs again and I couldn't have asked for a better concert.

Overdose Caress )

I was sad to see the live end. It was such a great experience and I want to do it again and again. I definitely have to see GazettE as many times as I can while I'm still in Japan. I love seeing other bands, but there's nothing quite like seeing the GazettE.

So, a couple of weeks ago I joined the Global PS Company Fan Club. I'd been tempted to do it ever since I missed getting GazettE tickets because fan club members can get presale tickets online. Then, PSC announced that they were doing a presale for GazettE's Omega tour final in Yokohama. I quickly made up my mind to register and I was able to apply for a presale ticket. I got an e-mail last night saying that I've got a ticket! I'm so happy that I'll be able to go see my bbs again! \o/

The exist trace concert is next week, too! I'm definitely looking forward to it. It's been too long since I've last been to a concert.

This has been another three day weekend for me, though yesterday was the only day I did anything noteworthy. Yesterday, I spent the afternoon in Ikebukuro with [livejournal.com profile] meepalicious, [livejournal.com profile] serria, and [livejournal.com profile] corvae_regina. It was a lot of fun to just geek around Ikebukuro like we used to!  We had ramen for lunch and ate at a cheap (but good) izakaya for dinner. In-between we went shopping. I finally got my copy of GazettE's new CD "TOXIC" that was released this week! (I had wanted to get it on Wednesday, the day it was released, but I didn't have time to because Leslie and I were too busy moving her suitcases to her new apartment in the rain.) I also went to Lawson and bought a ticket for exist trace's concert next month! I had originally wanted to go, but was saving my money for GazettE tickets. When the GazettE tickets sold out, I decided that I could go see exist trace instead. I also bought some Tiger and Bunny doujinshi at Mandarake (because I couldn't resist it), a teru teru bozu that looks like Celty, and an adorable stuffed pink llama (because I've been needing something to cuddle with while I sleep). We also ended up taking purikura. I'd missed having friends to properly geek out with here, so I'm glad that they're living close enough to hang out now. ^_^

And now the rest of this entry is going to dissolve into fangirling about GazetteEs new CD. I bought the limited edition of the album, which comes with a gorgeous photobook and a DVD of the making of the "Suicide Circus" PV. TOXIC is such an awesome CD! GazettE's sound has definitely evolved since DIM, but I like it. I was not expecting the dubstep in "Infuse Into", the intro track, but it has a cool sound. Of course, the rest of the album is rock. My favorite of the new songs on the album are "My Devil on the Bed", "Suicide Circus" and "Untitled". I'm still a big fan of "Red" and "Vortex", which have previously been released as singles, too. I've basically had the CD on repeat all day, cause that's what I do when I get a new CD that I love. I listen to it over and over and over again. I may not listen to them quite as much as I used to (back when I had a lot of internal anger and bitterness that I needed to vent), but GazettE is still my favorite band. Their music has been there with me through a lot of ups and downs and I adore them.

I bought my ticket for Miyavi's Chicago concert yesterday! I'm super excited that I'll get to see him again, this time at a smaller venue! And Meghan found out that she will be home this summer, so she's coming with me. It should be awesome, just like the time we went to the Ayabie concert.

This past week seemed pretty long, so I was super glad it was the weekend. Yesterday was fun. I went over to Emily's house for part of the afternoon. She had a number of people over for tea and mahjong. Most of us had never played real mahjong before, so Emily taught us. I really enjoyed it. I even managed to win a round. Then Jamie was in town, so we skipped anime club to have dinner with her.

And now for meme time!

I am exhausted, sore, and my ears are ringing, but I'm so happy. First of all, the Nagano trip was a ton of fun. Then, I rocked the fuck out at the V-Rock Festival today. It was amazing~. I finally got to see Gazette perform, which makes my life that much more complete. I love them. <3 The other bands were pretty awesome, as well.

Now, it is time for me to go to bed. After I survive Hell Week, I'll post the details of my recent adventures.

I bought a ticket to the V-Rock Festival today! It's an all day long series of J-rock concerts, held in Makuhari (the town I go to school in) on the 24th and 25th. I'm going on the 25th because that's the day Gazette is playing! I finally have a chance to see them live! I'm so super excited~.

I also just learned that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. That's pretty damn awesome.
